Tips for Selling Domains on Flippa

One of the easiest and most popular ways to sell a domain name is through an auction website like Flippa.com. Flippa has been around for many years and is trusted by many domain investors as one of the biggest marketplaces for buying and selling websites. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when auctioning your domain name(s) on Flippa.

Flippa Tips

1. Place a sale banner for your auctions on your blog or other related sites you own.
Use existing traffic on related websites and/or your parked domains to your advantage by advertising for your own auction(s). It really is as simple as creating a display banner to place on your sites containing a link to your auction. If you have a website related to domain developing or investing, your audience will more than likely be more targeted, leading to better results.

2. Social media is a great tool for promoting your domain auctions.
If you own any related social media pages or accounts, be sure to post links to your auction. Popular social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+, etc are a great way to promote your auction, especially if you use popular hashtags like #Flippa #Domains #Domainforsale. If you auction domain names often, you may even want to consider developing a dedicated Twitter account or Facebook page with targeted followers.

3. Put a link to your auction in your signature.
If you’re a member of any webmaster or domain forums (such as namepros) include a link in your signature so it will be seen by more potential buyers. It only takes a few seconds to do and is a super easy way to get your auction more exposure.

4. Utilize special offers from Flippa.
Pay attention to emails that you recieve from Flippa because most of the time they contain something like a free upgrade, credits for making a listing, 2-for-1’s as well as other promotions. Keep in mind that the email subject line won’t contain any information about a freebie or coupon, so be sure to read those emails.

5. Comments
Another tip for bringing more bidding action to your Flippa auction is to send out a comment or two in the days/hours leading up to auction close. It’s not uncommon (especially for longer auctions) for people to tap the “watch” button and then later forget about it. If you have some “watchers” and/or previous bidders and your auction ends soon, placing a comment on the auction will send out an email to all of them. We suggest something along the lines of “Only 3 days left… get your bids in now!” or “Only 48 hours left, time’s almost up!”.

There are plenty of options for promoting your Flippa auctions to get them more exposure which can in turn get you more bidders and sales. These are just a few of our favorite tips for auctioning domains on Flippa. Leave us a comment and let us know, what are some of yours?
